FRIDAY BOND CONSTRUCTION UPDATE!

This week, our focus shifts to the new construction and renovations coming to Blooming Grove High School and Junior High!

Next Thursday night at our regularly scheduled Board Meeting, Claycomb Architects will present the 100% construction documents for the High School and Junior High projects to the Board for possible approval. We are extremely excited to release the renderings and let everyone see what these spaces could look like, but we need to allow the Board to review and approve the plans before we do that.

What we CAN talk about is what has not changed: what our students, staff, and community are getting through this bond. And there is SO MUCH exciting stuff coming!

Over the next few weeks we will dive into more High School and Junior High expansions as well as Athletics and CTE projects.

NEW HIGH SCHOOL & JUNIOR HIGH ADDITION

One visual we are comfortable sharing at this time is the new addition connecting our High School and Junior High operations.

As our community knows, these two campuses already share several staff members and services, including administration, police, nurses, counselors, and other support staff. This addition will create a centralized entrance and administrative area for both campuses, making it easier and more efficient for our students, parents, staff, and visitors.

But this addition is about much more than offices!

It will also include:
• A built-in storm shelter
• A state-of-the-art media center and library that will serve as a centerpiece of the addition
• Seven new instructional classrooms for our students and teachers

We can't wait for everyone to see this space. IT LOOKS AMAZING!

NEW HIGH SCHOOL & JUNIOR HIGH CAFETERIA

Our plans also include a brand-new cafeteria in the center courtyard. This cafeteria will be large enough to serve both Junior High and High School students, with the ability to divide the space and keep the two campuses separated.

And yes… NO MORE 10:30 BRUNCH for our Junior High students!

This new cafeteria will allow the schedules on our two campuses to be more closely aligned and give us much better options for scheduling lunches throughout the day.

NEW SCIENCE LABS

Science labs were one of the biggest concerns identified during our original facilities planning process. Our existing labs on both campuses are outdated and need significant improvement.

The current culinary rooms at the high school will be converted to a modern science lab to be used by our high school students.

The Junior High will also receive a complete renovation of an existing classroom into an updated science lab designed to better serve today's instructional needs.

A TRUE ART STUDIO

With our High School administration moving into the new centralized addition, the current High School office space will be transformed into a dedicated art studio.

I strongly believe we have one of the top art programs in all of 3A, and we are excited to provide these students with a space that matches the level at which they are already creating and competing.

The plans include incorporating natural lighting into this area to create the feel and functionality of a true art studio. This will give our students a space specifically designed for creativity, instruction, and displaying their work.

Our students and teachers have accomplished some incredible things with the spaces they have today. We can't wait to see what they can do when we give them a studio designed to help them operate at the highest level.

WHAT OUR COMMUNITY VOTED FOR IS STILL MOVING FORWARD

As we reach this important point in the process and prepare to present the completed construction documents to the Board, we wanted to remind our community what this bond was designed to accomplish.

Every single project our Facilities Advisory Committee identified and recommended for our students, staff, and community is still in motion.

Classrooms. Science labs. CTE. Culinary. Health Science. Ag. Fine Arts. Art. Safety. Administration. Cafeterias. Athletics.

These projects were developed with one goal in mind: making the biggest possible impact on our students while being responsible with the investment our community has made in BGISD.

We are getting closer to the point where drawings become construction and plans become spaces our students will use every single day.

There is A LOT coming to Blooming Grove ISD, and we can't wait to show you what's next!

It is important to note that the designs and plans discussed in this update are still pending Board approval. We are extremely excited to release the renderings and let everyone see what these spaces could look like, but we want to allow the Board the opportunity to review and consider the final designs before we release those renderings publicly.
